Send weekly email digests for journals and WordPress blogs

This repo contains several scripts to send automated weekly email digests of content on WordPress blogs and journals as indexed by Crossref. A cron should be set up to run these scripts once per week, and the digests should be sent to a single email address that can then be forwarded to an email list. It is only necessary to edit a single .env file that contains all the relevant information.

blog_digest.py

Send a weekly email containing a digest of all new posts on a WordPress blog. This script uses of the WordPress API to collect the titles, co-authors, dates, and short excerpt for each post in a one-week time period.

journal_digest.py

Send a weekly email containing a digest of all new articles published in a journal using the Crossref API. This digest provides the article title, all authors, a short citation, the full abstract, and links to the PDF and HTML versions of each article.

PEN_digest.py

Send a weekly email to the editors of the Planetary Exploration Newsletter (PEN) of all new articles published in a journal using the Crossref API. This digest is formatted to the specifications expected by the PEN editors, including the use of strict ASCII output.
