Host.endpoint remains writable, allowing direct reassignment to bypass the coordinated endpoint replacement lifecycle and leave retained pools or requests attached to an inconsistent route.
Make Host.endpoint a getter-only property, with the normalized endpoint and UUID available before conviction-policy construction. Endpoint moves continue to publish a distinct Host with the same UUID and retire the old lifecycle; retained references keep their original endpoint. Equality, hashing, and ordering continue to use the UUID, while health, conviction-policy, and reconnection state remain mutable.
This is an immediate compatibility change: assigning or deleting Host.endpoint raises AttributeError, as it already does for Host.host_id. Callers should obtain the current host from cluster metadata. The Host API documentation and changelog describe this behavior.

I added relevant tests for new features and bug fixes.
All commits compile, pass static checks and pass test.

I added appropriate Fixes: annotations to PR description.
Integration scenario: live IP change with Scylla release:2026.1.13, protocol v4, and asyncio, using both Python-source and Cython builds; verify UUID preservation, a distinct current Host, unchanged old endpoint, metadata indexes, and queries through the new address.
Direct endpoint assignment can bypass coordinated host replacement and
leave retained pools or requests attached to an inconsistent route.
Expose the constructor-normalized endpoint through a getter-only property,
keeping it available alongside host_id before conviction policy creation.
Migrate endpoint-move regressions to replacement objects and coordinated
lifecycle APIs. Cover assignment and deletion guards, stable identity,
mutable health state, and request completion through the original pool.
Extend the live IP-change test and document the compatibility break.
Fixes: #924
Host.endpoint is read-only, like Host.host_id. Assigning or deleting either property raises an AttributeError.
When a host’s endpoint changes, a new Host object represents it with the same ID. Existing references retain the original endpoint, and the previous host is retired.
Host equality and hashing continue to use the host ID. Health and reconnection state remain mutable.
Check cluster metadata to find the current host for an endpoint.
Host.endpoint is now read-only, like Host.host_id. Endpoint changes use a replacement Host with the same host ID, while the original object retains its endpoint. Documentation and tests cover identity, metadata, pool ownership, request handling, and node IP-change behavior.

Explanation
[#924] The reviewed code makes Host.endpoint a getter-only property backed by _endpoint. host_id is also getter-only. __eq__, __hash__, and __lt__ use host_id. Endpoint replacement creates a distinct host and retires the old host. Health, conviction-policy, and reconnection state remain mutable. Tests cover assignment and deletion guards, stable hash and equality, mutable health state, replacement behavior, and legacy address comparison. The current change also verifies response completion before result().

Description
move_host is a non-underscore helper added to tests.unit.utils even though its docstring
describes it as an internal testing utility. Any later reader or wildcard import can treat it as
part of the module's public surface, but it is not referenced by public API documentation.

## Issue description
`move_host` is an internal test helper but uses a public name, leaving it exposed as part of the module surface without API documentation.
## Fix Focus Areas
- tests/unit/utils.py[57-77]
## Recommended Fix
Rename `move_host` to `_move_host` and update every internal test caller to use the underscore-prefixed name.

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.
Leaving the existing test docstrings unchanged. The introduced Host.endpoint property and move_host test helper both have docstrings, and the endpoint behavior is documented in the API guide. The repository checklist requires docstrings for introduced public items; it does not set an 80% coverage threshold for touched test functions.
Rename move_host to _move_host and update every internal test caller to use the underscore-prefixed name.
Keeping move_host consistent with the existing shared helpers new_session_with_pool_state and mock_session_pools in tests.unit.utils. These are test utilities; the repository rules do not require underscore prefixes or driver API documentation for them. move_host already has a docstring explaining its purpose.
The completion regression uses a mocked request timer, so result() can
block indefinitely if the response callback fails to signal completion.
Assert the completion event before reading the result.

Configure the mocked lifecycle before using movehost().

Configure the mocked lifecycle before using move_host().
move_host() retires host in a temporary Cluster, but make_owned_pool_session() leaves session.cluster._lifecycle.is_current as an unconfigured Mock. The old pool still matches the old Host, so _query() treats the truthy mock result as current and sends the request. Both stale-borrow tests then fail their None assertions. Configure is_current to reject Host._is_removed, or use a real cluster lifecycle. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Review comment at @tests/unit/test_response_future.py at line 205:
Configure the lifecycle mock in make_owned_pool_session before calling
move_host, so is_current rejects hosts marked removed via Host._is_removed; this
ensures _query treats the old pool as stale in both stale-borrow tests.

Configure is_current to reject Host._is_removed, or use a real cluster lifecycle.
No fixture change is needed. The retirement path calls host.set_down(), which sets is_up to False. The final admission check rejects that host before evaluating the mocked is_current, so the truthy mock cannot admit the request. Both cited stale-borrow tests pass with Python source and Cython builds (2 passed in each run).
