fix: dont block mqtt client loop when message queue is full - #1122

Navigate logical layers of code changes, visualize relationships, and explore their blast radius. 📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe MQTT message callback now uses a non-blocking queue operation for matching messages. If the queue is full, the existing handler logs the resulting exception. ChangesMQTT message enqueue

In particular, an assertion that a message must not appear could pass if that message is dropped. The effect is conditional and confined to MQTT test verification; no production access-control change is shown. Retained concerns

Do not discard MQTT responses when the queue is full.
_Subscription.queue has a maximum size of 30. A burst can fill the queue while _await_messages_on_topic waits for a response. put_nowait then raises Full, and _on_message only logs the error. If the discarded message is the expected response, the response check can time out and fail.
Restore the blocking put used by the base revision so the callback preserves matching messages.

I don't think there is an actual issue here, if there are too many messages in the queue then it will block but the test itself will time out. I think either keeping it as it is or adding a timeout to |
@michaelboulton added timeout to put. thnx a lot !! |

fix: don't block MQTT client loop when message queue is full
Summary
Fixes a deadlock in
_on_messagewhen a subscription'sQueue(maxsize=30)becomes full.queue.put(message)blocks by default, stalling Paho's network loop and preventing further message processing, socket I/O, and keepalive pings. The existingexcept Fullhandler could never catch this because blockingput()waits indefinitely instead of raisingFull.Changes
queue.put(message)withqueue.put_nowait(message).Full, allowing the existing handler to log the overflow and drop the message instead of blocking the client loop.Summary by CodeRabbit
