Summary

  • Expose a new layer_shell_layer config option (values: "overlay" (default) / "top"), replacing the hardcoded Layer::Overlay at the launcher window's layer-shell surface.
  • Keep the existing behavior for all users by defaulting to Overlay; opt in to Top when another surface — e.g. an fcitx5 input panel — needs to render above the launcher.
  • Deliberately restrict the enum to Overlay and Top; the protocol also defines Background/Bottom, but those would put the launcher below regular windows and are never useful for a launcher. Invalid values are rejected at parse time rather than silently producing a broken launcher.

Example config:

# ~/.config/zlaunch/config.toml
layer_shell_layer = "top"   # default is "overlay"

Refs #43.

zlaunch previously hardcoded its layer-shell surface to the Overlay
layer. This sensible default prevents certain input-method popups
(e.g. fcitx5 with Chinese IMEs) from rendering above the launcher.

Expose a new `layer_shell_layer` config option accepting "overlay"
(default) or "top". Other wlr layers are deliberately not exposed
since they would put the launcher below regular windows.
